Cannabis-Based Drug Approved for Seizures in Rare Genetic Condition

The FDA has approved Greenwich Biosciences’ Epidiolex (cannabidiol) oral solution for the treatment of seizures associated with tuberous sclerosis complex (TSC) in patients one year of age and older.

Epidiolex is the only FDA-approved drug that contains a purified drug substance derived from cannabis.

The drug was previously approved for the treatment of seizures associated with Lennox-Gastaut syndrome and Dravet syndrome, two rare and severe forms of epilepsy.
