Sun Pharma Prices Favipiravir at 47 Cents a Tablet in India

Sun Pharmaceuticals announced that it has launched its generic version of the antiviral drug Avigan (favipiravir) in India, setting a 47 cent price tag per tablet.

Favipiravir is approved in India for treating mild to moderate COVID-19 cases and is the only oral antiviral treatment approved in the country for that indication.

The drugmaker said that its pricing for the generic, marketed as FluGuard, is in line with its efforts to support India’s pandemic response.
