Zydus Cadila Says its COVID-19 Vaccine Was Found Safe in Phase 1 Trial

Indian drugmaker Zydus Cadila said its COVID-19 vaccine candidate ZyCoV-D was found to be safe and well tolerated in a phase 1 clinical trial.

The company is now launching a phase 2 study to assess the vaccine’s safety and immunogenicity in more than 1,000 healthy volunteers.

In animal studies, ZyCoV-D generated high levels of neutralizing antibodies against the SARS-CoV-2 coronavirus that causes COVID-19.
