Moderna to Supply 4.5 Million COVID-19 Vaccine Doses to Switzerland

August 10, 2020

Moderna has agreed to supply 4.5 million doses of its COVID-19 vaccine to the Swiss government upon the vaccine’s approval in the country.

The doses would be enough to vaccinate 2.25 million people, roughly one quarter of the country’s 8.7 million population, assuming that two vaccine doses will be needed. The Swiss government, in announcing the deal, did not specify what the financial terms are.

This is Moderna’s first deal with a government for a supply of its messenger RNA-based vaccine mRNA-1273, which is currently in a phase 3 trial.
