Trevena’s Intravenous Opioid Olinvyk Approved for Pain

August 11, 2020

Trevana’s Olinvyk (oliceridine) has been approved by the FDA for the treatment of pain in adults that is severe enough to require an intravenous opioid and for whom alternative treatments are inadequate.

The drug’s efficacy was established in clinical trials of patients who underwent bunion or abdominal surgery. Patients treated with Olynvik reported decreased pain compared to those given a placebo.

The opioid drug is only approved for short-term intravenous use in hospitals or other controlled clinical settings at a maximum daily dose of 27 mg.
