China Looks to Spur Domestic Manufacturing for Devices

China’s National Medical Products Administration has launched a marketing authorization system that simplifies approvals for products made in China by foreign device companies.

The new policy allows foreign device companies that hold Class II and Class III medical device registrations to manufacture their products at Chinese facilities.

A key requirement of the policy is that the facilities must obtain a device manufacturing permit, which will raise the bar for the domestic industry.
