ClearMask Receives FDA OK for Transparent Surgical Mask

The FDA has granted ClearMask 510(k) clearance for its fully transparent surgical mask, the first one to be fully cleared by the agency.

The mask meets the American Society for Testing and Materials’ level 3 requirements for fluid resistance and flammability, giving it a high level of protection for use in settings such as operating rooms.

The transparent mask helps improve visual communication, “which may help avoid costly errors and adverse outcomes,” the company said.
