AstraZeneca and Australia Reach Vaccine Supply Deal

August 19, 2020

AstraZeneca has entered into an agreement with the Australian government that will allow the country to manufacture enough doses of AZ’s vaccine candidate AZD1222 for 25 million Australians if the vaccine proves successful in late-stage trials.

The government plans to distribute the doses for free.

AZD1222, which the company is licensing from the University of Oxford, is currently in phase 2/3 trials in the UK and Brazil.
