Elekta Earns FDA Clearance for Gynecological Applicator

August 25, 2020

The FDA has granted 510(k) clearance for Elekta’s Geneva universal gynecological applicator for cervical cancer treatments.

The applicator is used to insert a sealed radiation source and it has been shown to help up to 75 percent of patients with locally advanced cervical cancer, according to Elekta.

The modular device is safe for use with magnetic resonance image-guided treatments and it can accommodate most female anatomies, the company said.
