Sinovac Taps Indonesia’s Bio Farma for COVID-19 Vaccine Production

China’s Sinovac is partnering with state-owned Indonesian drugmaker Bio Farma to supply its COVID-19 vaccine candidate CoronaVac in Indonesia.

Sinovac has agreed to supply bulk vaccines to Bio Farma so it can produce at least 40 million doses of CoronaVac for Indonesia before March 2021. The deal also includes the continued supply of vaccine in bulk by SinoVac through the end of next year.  

Bio Farma is currently conducting a phase 3 clinical trial of CoronaVac in Indonesia. The vaccine candidate generated neutralizing antibodies against the SARS-CoV-2 virus in 90 percent of participants in a phase 2 study.
