Smith+Nephew Earns CE Mark for Meniscal Repair System

Smith+Nephew has launched Novostitch Pro, a handheld meniscal repair system, following CE mark certification.

The device allows surgeons to perform minimally invasive stitching using an arthroscope in tight joint compartments, enabling previously unrepairable meniscal tears to be repaired instead of removed. Removal of meniscal tears can lead to a significant risk of osteoarthritis in the knee, Smith+Nephew said.

The repair system “expands meniscal repair options to around 600,000 European patients annually where the only previous option was removal,” the company said.
