IZI Medical Earns CE Mark for Vertebral Compression-Fracture Implant

IZI Medical has earned a CE mark certification for its Kiva vertebral compression-fracture system, a polyetheretherketone (PEEK) implant designed to prevent further collapse in spinal bones.

Often caused by age-related osteoporosis, vertebral compression fractures (VCFs) happen when bones in the spine weaken and collapse.

The Kiva system, which mimics cancellous bone and gives structural support to the spine, is the first new solution for treating VCFs in more than 10 years, according to the company.
