Russia to Supply 17 Countries with Generic Favipiravir for COVID-19

The Russian government has announced that it will supply its favipiravir-based COVID-19 drug Avifavir to 17 countries.

Russia’s Ministry of Health approved the drug in May, and it is now the country’s leading COVID-19 treatment in terms of exports. Avifavir has also been approved by regulators in Europe, the Middle East and Asia.

Fujifilm Holdings reported this week that its favipiravir product, Avigan, shortened COVID-19 recovery time in a phase 3 clinical trial.
