Abbott’s FreeStyle Libre 3 Gets CE Mark

September 30, 2020

Abbott has received CE mark certification for its FreeStyle Libre 3 system, a tiny wearable glucose sensor that provides glucose readings every minute.

The device is about the size of two stacked pennies and is worn on the back of the upper arm, replacing the need for frequent finger-sticks to monitor glucose levels.

Results are sent to a smartphone app that can use the data to issue alerts and show trends over time. The system operates continuously for two weeks, making it “the longest-lasting, self-applied continuous glucose-monitoring sensor available,” the company said.
