Natural Cycles Seeks Expanded Clearance for Birth Control App

October 22, 2020

Natural Cycles has applied for an expanded 510(k) clearance from the FDA for its birth control app, a device already cleared in the U.S. and Europe.

The company has developed new software for its app that converts temperature data received from wearable devices to a format that can be interpreted by the app.

The software identifies a woman’s daily fertility status based on her basal body temperature and other menstrual data, removing the need for manual measurement of temperatures.

Natural Cycles wants to expand the app’s clearance for use with additional thermometers.
