Medtronic Gets FDA OK for Nerve-Monitoring System

The FDA has granted Medtronic 510(k) marketing clearance for its NIM Vital intraoperative nerve-monitoring system.

The system allows physicians to confirm nerve function to help reduce the risk of nerve damage in patients undergoing head and neck surgery.

The NIM Vital system, which is also cleared in the EU, provides detailed data about a patient’s nerve condition to help physicians improve the efficiency and accuracy of surgeries.
