Eagle Pharmaceuticals Says Adjuvant Plus Body Cooling Improves Consciousness Recovery in Heat Stroke Patients

November 5, 2020

Canadian drugmaker Eagle Pharmaceuticals said its dantrolene sodium suspension significantly improved recovery in heat stroke patients in a clinical study.

The trial in Saudi Araba evaluated intravenously administered dantrolene sodium suspension combined with body cooling vs. body cooling alone and found that participants who received the intravenous treatment saw higher rates of consciousness recovery, the company said.

Severe heat stroke can lead to long-term neurological problems, such as cerebellar dysfunction and cognitive impairment.
