HHS Secretary Azar Projects Widespread COVID-19 Vaccination by Spring 2021

November 11, 2020

In a televised interview, HHS Secretary Alex Azar said there will be enough COVID-19 vaccines available for public dosing programs by spring 2021.

Azar also predicted there will be enough doses for early vaccination of high-risk nursing home patients, healthcare workers and first responders by the end of January.

Pfizer/BioNTech, developers of the vaccine candidate that appears to be ahead in the race for an effective vaccine, expect to manufacture up to 50 million doses of the vaccine in 2020 and up to 1.3 billion doses in 2021.
