Israel to Purchase 8 Million Pfizer / BioNTech COVID-19 Doses

Israel has agreed to purchase more than 8 million doses of the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine candidate BNT162b2 for shipment starting in January, provided it is approved by the regulatory authorities in the U.S. and Israel.

The two vaccine developers last week finalized an agreement with the European Commission to supply 300 million doses of their vaccine starting by year’s end. Financial details of the supply deals were not disclosed.

Pfizer also announced last week that BNT162b2 was more than 90 percent effective based on early data from a phase 3 trial.
