Acutus Appoints New Chief Science Officer to Expand Ablation Products

Carlsbad, Calif.-based arrhythmia care product developer Acutus Medical has named prominent cardiac electrophysiologist Steven Mickelsen as its new chief translational science officer, aiming to expand its ablation product range.

An inventor whose career has focused on complex ablation procedures, Mickelsen will help the company advance its research and development of gold-tip catheter technology for pulsed field ablation and radiofrequency ablation technologies.

Mickelsen founded Farapulse, an atrial fibrillation treatment firm in 2012, where he served as president, CEO and chief scientific officer.
