Russia Prices Sputnik V COVID-19 Vaccine at Less Than $10 Per Dose

November 25, 2020

Russia says its experimental COVID-19 vaccine, Sputnik V, will be priced at less than $10 per dose worldwide but will be distributed to Russian citizens free of charge.

The Russian Direct Investment Fund (RDIF), which funded the vaccine’s development, said it can distribute enough doses to inoculate 500 million people next year and will start delivery in January.

Sputnik V will be “two or more times cheaper” than rival vaccines based on mRNA technology with similar efficacy rates, RDIF said, referring to the Pfizer/BioNTech and Moderna vaccines, which are derived from the same technology.
