Saudi Arabia Gives Go-Ahead to Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 Vaccine

Saudi Arabia’s drug regulator granted full approval to the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine, BNT162b2, following Emergency Use Authorizations for the vaccine in the UK, Canada and Bahrain.

Saudi Arabia said it will begin importing doses of the vaccine but didn’t specify amounts or disclose which populations would receive the first inoculations.

The ministry of health said it “will analyze samples from each incoming vaccine shipment before using it, to ensure its quality.”
