Next Science Gains CE Mark for Antimicrobial Wound Gel

Next Science has been granted CE mark certification for BlastX, an antimicrobial wound gel that breaks down bacterial biofilm.

The gel envelops a patient’s wound and kills bacteria, defending against bacterial recolonization while keeping the wound moist for healing purposes.

The company said its product is ideal for treating nonhealing wounds, such as diabetic foot ulcers, bed sores and venous leg ulcers. It can also prevent infections in acute wounds and surgical wounds.

The wound gel is already sold in the U.S. by 3M, having received 510(k) marketing clearance from the FDA.
