SmartBreast Purchases Dilon Technologies’ Molecular Breast Imaging Products

Pittsburgh, Pa.-based SmartBreast announced that it has acquired several molecular breast imaging products from Dilon Technologies, an oncology devicemaker in Newport News, Va.

The purchase nets SmartBreast the Dilon 6800 molecular breast imaging (MBI) scanner, the GammaLoc MBI-guided biopsy and other devices, as well as accompanying analysis software.

The Dilon 6800 is a mobile scanner cleared by the FDA for MBI-guided biopsies of suspected breast cancers.

The companies did not disclose the financial terms of the agreement.
