Pfizer and BioNTech Offer to Supply Covid-19 Vaccine to South Africa for $10 a Dose

Pfizer and BioNTech have reportedly offered to supply their COVID-19 vaccine to South Africa at a discounted price of $10 per dose.

The price is about half of what the U.S. and EU negotiated with companies, but the South African government is reportedly pressing for an even lower price.

South Africa is said to have received the discounted price because it is considered a developing nation and because Pfizer and BioNTech were allowed to conduct a phase 3 trial in the country evaluating the vaccine.
