Pfizer, BioNTech Make Offer to South Africa to Price COVID-19 Vaccine at $10 Per Dose

Pfizer and BioNTech have reportedly offered to supply their COVID-19 vaccine to South Africa at a discounted price of $10 per dose.

The price is about half of what the U.S. and EU negotiated with the companies, but the South African government is reportedly pressing for an even lower price.

South Africa received the discounted price because it is considered a developing nation and because Pfizer and BioNTech are evaluating the vaccine in a phase 3 trial in the country.
