Medical Microinstruments Selects New Chief Executive Officer

January 15, 2021

Medical Microinstruments, a robotic devicemaker focused on microsurgery, has named Mark Toland as its new CEO.

Toland brings more than 25 years of device industry experience and he most recently served as president and CEO of vascular robotics firm Corindus that was acquired by Siemens Healthineers for $1.1 billion in 2019.

His first task will be to steer the commercialization of the Italy-based company’s Symani Surgical System, a two-arm robotic microsurgery platform cleared in the EU in 2019. The system was used successfully to conduct four first-in-human surgical procedures in Italy last year.
