Abbott’s Panbio COVID-19 Test Gets Additional CE Marks

Abbott Laboratories has obtained two new CE marks for its Panbio COVID-19 Ag Rapid Test that clear it in Europe for self-swabbing and asymptomatic testing.

The portable test can now be used in the EU for the mass screening of patients who do not show symptoms of COVID-19. Patients may also now self-collect nasal specimens for use with the test under the supervision of a healthcare worker, reducing the risk of infection for staff.

The company said it has shipped more than 200 million Panbio rapid-antigen tests around the world since August 2020.
