UK Orders 40 Million More COVID-19 Vaccine Doses from Valneva

The UK government has exercised an option for an additional 40 million doses of Valeneva’s COVID-19 vaccine, bringing its total ordered doses to 100 million.

The supply is meant to last through 2022, though the government has additional options for 90 million doses to be delivered between 2023 and 2025. The deal’s total value is estimated at nearly $1.7 billion.

Valneva’s adjuvanted vaccine is currently being evaluated in a fully enrolled phase 1/2 trial in the UK and the company expects to release interim results in April.

Earlier this week, Valneva said it has begun vaccine production at its Scottish facility and said it can produce 250 million doses per year.
