Health Canada Authorizes Pfizer Vaccine Labeling Change

February 11, 2021

Health Canada has approved a labeling change for Pfizer’s COVID-19 vaccine that explains how to extract six doses instead of just five from each vial.

The regulatory agency previously acknowledged that six doses can be extracted from each vial when a special syringe is used, but it required a certain amount of overfill in each vial to ensure proper dosing.

The agency approved the label change after concluding that an acceptable amount of overfill will remain in each vial after extracting six doses.
