South Korean Diagnostics Maker Develops New Coronavirus Variant Test
February 22, 2021
South Korea’s Seegene has developed a COVID-19 diagnostic variant test that is able to screen for COVID-19 and detect multiple mutant strains using a single tube of reagent.
The Allplex SARS-CoV-2 Variants Assay can identify major genetic variations that have originated from the UK and South Africa as well as other regions including Japan and Brazil, the company said.
The test uses technology that can detect a specific spot where mutation occurs, allowing for precise detection and differentiation of the coronavirus from mutated strains.
