Becton Dickinson, Scanwell Health Partnering on COVID-19 Rapid Home Test

Becton Dickinson (BD) and Scanwell Health are collaborating on a COVID-19 rapid at-home test that uses smartphone technology to guide patients through the testing process and displays results.

The test will combine a BD lateral-flow antigen test with Scanwell Health’s mobile app, the companies said. The app is expected to provide step-by-step instructions for collecting and transferring a nasal swab sample and will use the patient’s phone camera to analyze and interpret results that are presented through the app.

The companies said they are working on enabling the test to automatically report results to public health agencies.
