Aesculap Receives FDA Clearance for Robotic Digital Microscope Add-on

Aesculap has been granted FDA 510(k) clearance allowing a digital infrared fluorescence accessory, DIR800, to be used with its Aesculap Aeos Robotic Digital Microscope.

The clearance expands the fluorescence capabilities of the digital microscope, which already features a 3D digital ultraviolet mode.

The accessory is used to view intraoperative blood flow in the cerebral vascular area, including assessing cerebral aneurysm and vessel branch occlusion in addition to patency in neurosurgery. It also helps to visually assess intraoperative blood flow and vessel patency in bypass neurosurgical procedures, the company said.
