NuVasive Purchases Simplify Medical for $150 Million

NuVasive has moved to expand its spinal technology offerings with a $150 million acquisition of Simplify Medical, an agreement that nets it an implantable cervical disc replacement.

The Simplify Cervical Artificial Disc, which NuVasive obtains through the acquisition, has received FDA premarket approval for replacing a diseased or damaged disc in the neck. Designed to relieve pain and enable full movement, the device in used in cervical total disc replacement procedures.

NuVasive also agreed to make future milestone payments related to regulatory approval and sales of the cervical disc implant.
