Siemens Healthineers’ COVID-19 Antigen Lab Test Receives CE Mark

Siemens Healthineers has earned CE mark certification for its laboratory-based SARS-CoV-2 Antigen Assay, a test that has been designed to also detect new variants.

The antigen test detects the nucleocapsid antigen of the virus and has been designed with five monoclonal antibodies to maximize its sensitivity to current and future coronavirus variants, the company said.

The test also features a “pretreatment process” that inactivates the virus without compromising test quality or validity, helping to protect staff from infection.

The test is now available in Europe for the Atellica Solution and ADVIA Centaur laboratory analyzers.
