Hologic Acquires Molecular Diagnostic Firm Diagenode for $159 Million

Massachusetts-based Hologic has purchased Diagenode, a European molecular diagnostics maker and developer, for approximately $159 million.

Diagenode makes more than 30 real-time polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests that have been cleared in Europe for detecting bacteria, parasites and viruses involved in sexually transmitted infections, respiratory diseases, gastroenteritis and meningitis.

In addition to PCR tests, the company has a portfolio of devices, reagents, kits, antibodies and services that help to analyze DNA and RNA.
