Vetex Medical’s Thrombectomy Catheter Cleared by FDA

March 3, 2021

The FDA has given 510(k) clearance for Vetex Medical’s ReVene thrombectomy catheter used to de-clot peripheral vessels.

The device uses dual-action technology to de-clot peripheral vessels, such as in deep vein thrombosis, using wall-to-wall contact in a single session that doesn’t require the use of drugs to break down blood clots.

The catheter uses a dynamic cage to separate clots from vessel walls while simultaneously drawing clots into itself, macerating them and transporting them out of the body. It is specifically designed for the venous system and protects vessel walls and valves by adapting to vessel size and physiology.
