Empatica Gains CE Mark for Respiratory Infection Smartwatch

Empatica has received CE mark certification for Aura, a system that uses a wearable device and smartphone app to automatically warn patients of potential respiratory infections, including COVID-19.

The system uses an algorithm that evaluates vital signs using Empatica’s smartwatch, comparing data against historical baselines that are unique to each user. It requires no manual input and warns patients when data begins suggesting their body is starting to mount a response to an infection.

Aura automatically displays a warning on Empatica’s smartphone-based Care App, as well as a cloud-based portal, and can be set up to inform healthcare providers or caregivers.
