March 15, 2021

Brazil’s health regulator, ANVISA, has given full approval to the AstraZeneca/Oxford University COVID-19 vaccine, following its previous authorization for emergency use.

Brazil’s Fiocruz biomedical institute will manufacture doses domestically, but the country has already received a supply of the vaccine from India’s Serum Institute.

Brazil has also ordered Sinovac vaccine shots from China, as it aims to vaccinate a population of more than 211 million people that has seen more than 11million cases and 273,000 deaths from the disease.
