Pelican Diagnostics Receives CE Mark for COVID-19 Saliva Test

Canary Global’s company Pelican Diagnostics has earned the CE mark for its COVID-19 Ultra-Rapid Mobile Test, a saliva test that takes under two minutes.

The test kit is comprised of a handheld reusable digital reader and disposable testing cartridges that analyze spike and nucleocapsid proteins in saliva samples to detect the virus.

Pelican said that the test has high sensitivity in both symptomatic and asymptomatic patients and can detect the known new viral variants. It does not require any lab equipment or amplification processes.

The test is currently under review by the FDA for potential Emergency Use Authorization for over-the-counter, nonprescription use and as a self-test.
