NovaSight Plans Pivotal Study of Digital Lazy Eye Treatment

March 18, 2021

NovaSight is conducting a pivotal study of its CureSight system, a digital device that is designed to treat lazy eye in children without the need for a patch.

The system uses a monitor that displays TV shows, movies and social media while tracking eye movements and automatically adjusting the treatment protocol. The trial is enrolling 90 children with amblyopia (lazy eye) aged four to nine across six different Israeli medical centers and is the first pivotal study in children to compare the system against the gold standard patch treatment, according to the company.

A previous pilot trial of 20 participants aged four to 15 showed that the device provided significant improvements in visual and stereo acuity, with the improvements remaining stable at the half-year follow-up stage.
