Life Spine’s Expandable Spine Spacer Gains FDA Clearance

March 22, 2021

The FDA has granted 510(k) clearance for Life Spine’s Prolift Wedge Expandable Spacer System, an implant used in micro-invasive spinal surgery.

The interbody spacer system is an expandable implant designed for use in transforaminal lumbar interbody fusion (TLIF) and posterior lumbar interbody fusion (PLIF) procedures.

The device, which maintains alignment while providing sagittal correction — front-to-back balance — for the spine, automatically locks in place when adequate correction has been achieved and can then be packed with graft using a delivery device. The Prolift comes in multiple implant heights and widths to fit different anatomies.
