Two Universities Launch Archive for Opioid Litigation Documents

March 26, 2021

The University of California, San Francisco and Johns Hopkins University have launched an online archive of documents associated with the numerous lawsuits filed against drugmakers alleged to have fueled the U.S. opioid epidemic.

The Opioid Industry Documents Archive currently hosts 3,300 documents, including emails, memos, presentations, sales reports, budgets and audit reports referenced in federal litigation between cities and counties and opioid makers.

The goal of the archive is to increase transparency about what led to the epidemic and “to ensure a similar crisis doesn’t occur again,” the universities said, adding that it will be a “living repository.”
