Biden Doubles COVID-19 Vaccination Goal

March 26, 2021

In his first presidential news conference yesterday, President Biden set a new goal of 200 million COVID-19 vaccinations by his 100th day in office — doubling his initial goal.

“I know it's ambitious. Twice our original goal. But no other country in the world has even come close, not even close to what we are doing. I believe we can do it,” Biden said, adding that the administration met its initial goal of 100 million doses in 58 days.

Earlier this month, Biden asked states to make all adults over age 18 eligible by May 1 to receive a COVID-19 shot, which will be the day after his 100th day in office.

According to the latest Centers for Disease Control and Prevention numbers, 133 million vaccine doses have been administered in the U.S. to date. An estimated 47.4 million Americans, or 14.3 percent of the population, have been fully vaccinated, including 24.5 million individuals age 65 or older, who comprise 44.8 percent of this age group in the U.S. ― Jason Scott
