Siemens Healthineers Finalizes Purchase of Varian in Move to Expand Cancer Device Offerings

Siemens Healthineers has completed a $16.4 billion purchase of Palo Alto, Calif.-based Varian Medical Systems in a deal that significantly expands Siemens’ oncology product range.

Varian produces medical devices, including linear accelerators and software for treating cancer and other medical conditions with radiotherapy, radiosurgery, proton therapy and brachytherapy.

The combined companies will create a large portfolio of imaging, lab diagnostics, artificial intelligence and treatment products for global oncology indications.
