Siemens Healthineers’ COVID-19 Antigen Test Cleared in Europe for At-Home Testing

Siemens Healthineers’ Clinitest Rapid COVID-19 Antigen Self-Test has received CE mark certification for unsupervised self-testing by patients age 12 and up.

The nasal swab test, which detects whether a person is infected with the coronavirus, can be conducted by symptomatic or asymptomatic patients at home and comes in single, 5- and 20-test packs. It can also be used for patients under age 12 with adult supervision.

To use the test, patients collect a swab sample from both nostrils and wash the swab in a buffer supplied with the test. The sample is then placed in a test cassette and the positive or negative results are displayed in 15 minutes.
