Olympus Receives FDA Clearance for Airway Mobilescopes

The FDA has granted Olympus 510(k) clearance for its Airway Mobilescopes, a trio of handheld devices designed to assist anesthesiologists, pulmonologists and critical care providers in managing the upper and lower airways.

The portable mobilescopes are the only ones with video cameras on their tips to receive FDA clearance, according to Lynn Ray, vice president and general manager of Olympus’ global respiratory business unit.

The mobilescopes display shareable high-resolution images of the airway on an LCD monitor and can record still images and videos onto an SD memory card.
