FDA Clears Overjet’s AI Software for Periodontal Disease

The FDA has granted Overjet 510(k) clearance for its Dental Assist software, an artificial intelligence (AI)-powered product that helps dentists and hygienists diagnose and treat gum infections.

The software measures mesial and distal bone levels in radiographs to help diagnose and plan treatment for periodontal disease, which can lead to pain and tooth loss if untreated.

"These tools unlock the ability to track the progression of disease over time for each tooth and make the case for evidence-based treatment supported by unbiased software and clear visuals for patients,” said Chris Balaban, clinical director for Overjet.
