Abbott Obtains CE Mark, Canadian Clearance for Steerable Delivery Sheath

Abbott has earned CE mark certification for its Amplatzer steerable delivery sheath, a device used to implant the company’s occluder for the left atrial appendage.

According to Abbott, the device is the first of its kind developed specifically for minimally invasive left atrial appendage occlusion or closure procedures to treat patients diagnosed with atrial fibrillation who are at risk of ischemic stroke.

The sheath features bidirectional steering and an auto-lock setting to facilitate accurate alignment with the left atrial appendage. It also has a hemostasis valve designed to stabilize blood flow and minimize blood loss during procedures.
