Smiths Medical Insulin Syringes Recalled Due to Incorrect Dose Markings

June 22, 2021

The FDA and Smiths Medical have announced a recall of the company’s Jelco Hypodermic Needle-Pro fixed-needle insulin syringes.

The company said it has become aware of specific models and lots of the insulin syringes that may have “skewed odd number line gradation markings on their syringe barrels.”

The syringes should not be used because the skewed markings could lead to the patient getting the wrong dose of insulin, which could result in serious harm or death. No actual deaths or serious injuries have been reported due to this problem, the company said.
